Gerald Kurten

It all started when…

Gerald Kurten retired to San Marcos after working with Texas Parks and Wildlife fish hatcheries for 27 years.  He received a B.S. and an M.S. in Aquatic Biology from Texas State University and has owned a home just north of San Marcos for 40 years.

Gerald works with stained glass, lampworked glass, and fused glass. His glasswork reflects his appreciation for nature and his interest in gardening, beekeeping, and raising pets and chickens on his homestead. He now works primarily with fused glass in transparent colors, often with metal inclusions and glass paint. He also upcycles glass bottles and scraps into jewelry, votives, and dishes.
