Darrell Kurten

About the artist…

Darrell Kurten received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts at Southwest Texas State University in 1984. His passion for painting began after his first watercolor class at the university. Darrell has enjoyed painting part-time during his career in the printing industry and as a devoted parent. Due to his recent retirement, he can now devote his full attention to making art.

He gets inspiration from the natural world, “Life (making art) has never been better.” He also enjoys hiking, kayaking, fishing, and traveling; his artwork originates from these experiences. Darrell’s preferred medium is watercolor, and occasionally he paints in oils.
