Rebecca Montgomery
As the daughter and sister of artists, Rebecca Montgomery has pursued creative interests in multiple media throughout her lifetime. She explored such diverse arts as printmaking, batik, and macramé before deciding to make jewelry her primary concentration. These interests are evident in her approach to jewelrymaking, as she is always looking for new ways to combine metal, fiber, and other media in her creations. For more than three decades she has made jewelry using techniques such as beadweaving, micro-macramé, and wire work. After retiring from her “day job” as professor of American history, she began developing her metalsmithing skills and enjoys combining different metals in earring and necklace designs. One of her current passions is creating beaded necklaces and bracelets using the traditional Japanese art of Kumihimo.
