Ysabel Garcia

Ysabel Garcia is an up-and-coming multimedia painter with a love for loose brushstrokes and vibrant, sometimes jarring color. She marries traditional painting techniques she learned from relentless self-study and a year studying at a classical art atelier with an appreciation for bolder contemporary painting styles, illustration and even abstract art. Her work often has de-emphasized subjects and constricted value ranges in the vein of tonalism, making the mark and color the real subject of the painting. Other times, her work examines the interplay between beauty and discomfort, using her abilities in faithful representation to support her unusual treatments of the subject. Ysabel has lived in Texas most of her life and currently resides in San Marcos, TX. She paints with a variety of mediums, her favorites include oil paint, gouache and water-soluble encaustic.
